How We Prep Clients for a Smooth, Stress-Free Video Shoot

Let’s be real: most people don’t know what to expect when they show up to a video shoot. And that’s totally normal. Whether it’s your first time on camera or you’ve done a dozen content days with other teams, working with Bunker Hill Media means you’re not walking in blind.

We believe the smoother the prep, the better the shoot. That’s why we’ve built our own system to help every client feel informed, confident, and excited before we even roll.

Here’s how we do it.

Step 1: The Creative Document

Alright, you’ve signed up with us for a video project. Let’s go! After our initial discovery call, we send you a Creative Brief to learn about your brand, goals, and vision. Once that’s filled out, we use it to build our full Creative Document - a detailed game plan we review together before shoot day.

What’s in it:

  • Your deliverables and timeline

  • A breakdown of each video we’re creating

  • Interview questions (if applicable)

  • A Script

  • Key points and messaging themes

  • Moodboard + style references

  • Shot list + production schedule

This doc keeps everyone on the same page and is the reason our shoots run so efficiently.

Step 2: What to Wear, What to Expect

We always give our clients a clear idea of what to wear (and not wear) on camera. Our "What to Expect on Set" section also breaks down:

  • Arrival time + location

  • Who’s being filmed and when

  • How long each section takes

  • Tips for being on camera (especially for interviews)

We want you to feel ready - not rushed - so we build in time for breathing room, adjustments, and the occasional snack break.

Step 3: Our Gear Is Dialed, So You Don’t Have to Be

We show up with a full arsenal: Sony FX6s, FX3s, professional mics, lighting kits, drones, gimbals, and backup batteries for days. But more importantly, we show up ready to adapt. If the weather shifts or the vibe changes, we’re quick on our feet without losing the vision.

Clients often tell us they didn’t expect the shoot to feel so calm. That’s because we do all the heavy lifting in advance.

Step 4: You’re Not Alone On Set

If you're nervous about being on camera, we get it. We’re there to coach you through every shot — whether it’s helping you rephrase a line, fixing a collar, or cracking a joke to ease the nerves. We create an environment where people feel like themselves.

Step 5: Post-Shoot, We Keep It Moving

After wrap, we immediately organize footage, begin the edit, and stay in touch with clear communication. No ghosting, no wondering when your video will be ready. You'll know exactly what’s happening and when.

Final Thoughts

A smooth video shoot starts with solid prep. When you work with us, it’s not just about pressing record — it’s about making sure you feel taken care of from start to finish.
