One Year Later

Hear ye, hear ye! It has been exactly one year since I dramatically announced to the internet that I was aware of my typos and didn’t plan to fix them. A true milestone. And against all odds, here you are again, reading another one of my ramblings! Hello to my fans (aka: mom, dad, family, maybe a Google crawler bot). It was September 18th last year that I realized that maybe we were getting some more traction to our website and I was like man, maybe I should actually write a blog about that and in my own voice for once.

Let’s make it a tradition - here we are one year later.

Here’s the business update: I am actually kind of proud of myself. Over the last year, I kept hammering away at these blogs, stuffing them with SEO keywords like “Boston video production company” and “Boston videographers” (hi Google!) and the wild thing is it worked. There’s a lot more that has gone into it, but let’s just say it’s been a really long process that has paid off.

Our rankings went up. Traffic is higher. And most importantly, our business has been doing better than ever. Turns out when you spend a year yelling into the SEO void, sometimes the void yells back with new clients.

Dare I say on my business’ website that, more importunely than business - life has been really good too. (Is this going to be our Christmas Card? Can I send this to people instead of a card!?) I just got back from one of the most incredible trips of my life. France and Italy with Sam, my parents and my aunt. We hit Paris, hopped a train to Milan, took in the cliffs of Cinque Terre, wandered through Tuscany, and ended in Rome. And because apparently I don’t know how to actually rest, I also spent some time on the trip honing my photography skills with a new lens that makes digital shots look like disposable film - jury is still out on this but kind of cool. There’s not enough time in the day to write how incredible this trip was. I think people think I’m dramatic about how much I adore every trip I take, but if a 2 week Euro trip isn’t changing your life forever - what are you doing out there?

Here’s another announcement: I’m taking a step back from Instagram for a while. Shocking, I know considering the HOURS of my life I spend on there a day. The irony of the “video content person” stepping back from social media isn’t lost on me. But here’s the thing - we don’t actually make social media content. What we do at Bunker Hill Media is create polished, professional video: brand stories, corporate videos, testimonials, event coverage. The kind of stuff that lives on websites, in campaigns, in presentations - not just in a quick scroll. And while Instagram has its place, I noticed that instead of soaking in moments (like an early morning chat with family), I was just… scrolling. Reaching for my phone late at night, early in the morning, in between train rides. It wasn’t inspiring me - it was distracting me.

So for now, Instagram can wait. My phone can wait. What can’t wait is the work I care about most: telling stories on screen, making beautiful videos for our clients, and continuing to build Bunker Hill Media into the best little Boston video production company the SEO world has ever seen (and maybe in real life too).

If you made it this far: love you endlessly. Thank you for reading, thank you for supporting us, and thank you for helping me prove that yelling into the SEO void is actually worth it. See you soon - preferably in person, not on Instagram.
