CITI GLOBAL COMMUNITY DAY 2025
Mobilizing Volunteers Around the World – Including Right Here in Boston
Every year, Citi’s Global Community Day brings together employees, alumni, friends, and family from across the globe for a day of hands-on volunteerism. Since its launch in 2006, the initiative has grown to more than 1.2 million volunteer engagements across 80+ countries, reinforcing Citi’s commitment to civic engagement, local partnerships, and social impact.
In Boston, the 2025 event took place on June 12 in partnership with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. Nearly 100 volunteers gathered at the Back Bay Fens, where they removed approximately 400 pounds of trash and planted 52 new plants to help revitalize the historic park. The effort was part of Citi’s ongoing mission to strengthen the communities where they live and work—celebrating both Global Community Day and 50 years of Citi’s presence in Boston.
OUR APPROACH WITH CITI GROUP:
Citi wanted to authentically capture the energy and impact of their 2025 Global Community Day event in Boston—a worldwide initiative that mobilizes employees, alumni, and community members for a day of service. The goal was to document the spirit of volunteerism and community engagement, with a focus on candid moments that would resonate both internally and externally.
Pre-Production Planning: We collaborated with Citi’s team ahead of the event to align on priorities, logistics, and deliverables. With a tight two-hour shoot window and no formal programming, we planned our approach around fast, nimble coverage to capture genuine moments of teamwork and impact.
Event Coverage: Bunker Hill Media was on location at the Back Bay Fens on June 12, 2025. Our team included one videographer and one photographer, using lightweight, mobile gear to document volunteers as they cleaned up the park and planted new greenery. With nearly 100 participants spread across the area, we moved quickly to cover a wide range of activity while maintaining a low profile to preserve the natural flow of the event.
Post-Production: While Citi opted to handle final editing in-house, we turned around all deliverables within 24 hours. This included a curated gallery of high-quality, retouched images and over two hours of clean, well-framed b-roll footage - ideal for repurposing across digital channels like LinkedIn and internal presentations.
THE SHOOT WITH CITI GROUP:
This shoot came with a unique challenge: we had just two hours to cover a fast-moving outdoor event spread across a large park, with nearly 100 volunteers working simultaneously. Our goal was to capture the scale and spirit of the event without interrupting the natural rhythm of the day.
We kept our crew light and agile. One Sony FX3 rotated between handheld, tripod, and gimbal setups to get cinematic b-roll of volunteers in action—cleaning up trash, planting new greenery, and connecting with teammates. At the same time, we used our Sony A7III to capture high-quality stills, focusing on expressions, teamwork, and the environmental context of the work.
Thanks to careful pre-production planning and a boots-on-the-ground approach, we were able to deliver a robust set of assets that told the story clearly and beautifully. All photos and raw video footage were delivered to Citi within 24 hours via Frame.io so their internal team could handle post-production.
POST-PRODUCTION FOR CITI GROUP
While Citi opted to handle editing in-house, our role was to ensure every asset delivered was polished, organized, and ready to use. We turned around a curated gallery of high-resolution, retouched images and over two hours of well-composed, clean b-roll—all delivered via Frame.io within 24 hours of the event. Our focus was on creating content that was versatile, high-quality, and immediately usable across Citi’s internal and external channels, including LinkedIn.
